The short answer

Incite Tax & Accounting publicly positions itself around helping business owners with tax and accounting, with an emphasis on Utah businesses. AE Tax Advisors focuses on planning for profitable businesses and real estate investors, including prior-year return review, depreciation and filing implementation. Both are plausible firms to interview if you own an operating business. A useful comparison starts with the work your return actually requires, rather than a promise of a particular savings amount.

Disclosure: AE Tax Advisors wrote this independent comparison and competes for some of the same clients. The description of Incite's model is drawn from its official site, reviewed September 27, 2026. Its pages were intermittently unavailable during this review, so confirm current services, geographic reach and prices directly. No fee or performance claim about Incite is inferred from that access issue.

What to compare in a written proposal

  • Accounting work: Is bookkeeping cleanup, monthly close or management reporting included, or does the firm need clean books supplied by your team?
  • Tax plan: Will you receive a written forecast, entity and owner-pay analysis, implementation calendar and meeting cadence?
  • Returns: Which business and personal filings are included and who signs them? Are state returns and amended years additional?
  • Prior years: Who reviews basis, depreciation schedules, missing elections and carryovers, and what happens if a correction is needed?
  • Real estate: If you own rentals, who analyzes passive-loss usability and any cost segregation or Form 3115 work before assuming the deduction helps this year?

Where AE Tax fits

AE publishes a $7,800 advisory engagement and separately scopes returns, amendments and cost segregation. The starting review considers current and prior returns, books, entities and depreciation. Owners with substantial rental activity can pair business planning with property analysis. Ask for the named adviser, timelines and excluded work in the engagement letter.

If bookkeeping operations and day-to-day management reporting are the main need, make them explicit in both proposals. If a historical tax position is the main need, bring the affected returns and depreciation schedules. Compare Incite and AE on the same set of facts and complete first-year price.

How to research reviews

Use dated, original reviews to check responsiveness, preparation accuracy and whether a written plan was implemented. Separate comments about a free assessment from comments about completed filings. Our reviews research guide explains how to evaluate those accounts without treating a star rating as a tax audit. See also Rainwater CPA and Peter Holtz CPA for other business-owner service models.
