White Coat Planning vs AE Tax: Compare the Scope
Compare White Coat Planning's comprehensive financial plan with AE Tax's scoped business and real estate advisory work, fees, and implementation needs.
Compare the help you need
A wider financial plan or a defined owner-tax project?
White Coat Planning describes comprehensive financial planning, optional investment management, and standalone student-loan advice. Its published financial-planning model includes an initial plan fee followed by monthly advice. AE Tax Advisors offers defined tax advisory for business and property owners, with additional services separately priced. These engagements should be compared by the decision they address, not by assuming that every financial plan includes every tax service.

Compare the deliverables before the commitment
A doctor seeking a household plan may want coordinated decisions about spending, insurance, debt, investments, and long-term goals. White Coat Planning's public menu speaks to that broader assignment. A doctor who owns a practice and is considering a property transaction may also need a specific tax analysis and separately priced reporting work. Ask the financial planner whether that work is included, coordinated with another professional, or outside the proposed scope.
Ask AE the corresponding boundary question: which parts of the household plan are addressed by the tax project, and which remain with the financial planner? Tax advice does not replace portfolio management, insurance selection, or loan-specific expertise simply because those decisions affect cash flow.
An engagement map for a practice owner
Create one row for each decision. A practice compensation change needs someone to model the proposal and someone to implement any agreed payroll action. A property purchase needs a documented acquisition brief and ownership records. A retirement objective needs spending and investment assumptions. Debt decisions need their own loan evidence. List the professional, deliverable, deadline, and extra cost beside every row.
Now highlight any unassigned row. That gap is the reason to request additional help. Highlight duplicate work as well: if both professionals plan to prepare the same forecast, agree on the inputs and select the authoritative version. More advisers can improve coordination only when the ownership of each task is clear.
Review recurring and project fees separately
White Coat Planning's site describes an upfront planning fee and monthly continuing advice, with investment management optional. Obtain the current selected-plan quote and ask how cancellation and ongoing updates work. AE lists $7,800 Strategic and $9,800 Complex advisory, with no required annual renewal for the standard planning engagement; returns, amendments, studies, and future additional work are separate. Neither price structure proves that the deliverables are equivalent.
Compare the total commitment over the period you need support. A one-time acquisition project can have different needs from continuous household guidance. Retaining a financial planner and commissioning a focused tax review can be a reasonable arrangement when the scopes are complementary.
