How It Works
From your first call to ongoing advisory, here is exactly how AE Tax Advisors builds and implements your custom tax strategy.
Your Path to Tax Savings
A proven 6-step process that has helped hundreds of business owners and real estate investors reduce their tax burden.
Free Discovery Call
30-minute confidential call to understand your current tax situation, business structure, income sources, and goals. We identify the biggest opportunities and determine whether our advisory services are a fit. No obligation, no pressure, just a straightforward conversation about your taxes.
Document Collection
We request your last 3 years of tax returns, K-1s, W-2s, 1099s, closing statements, and any relevant financial documents. Our secure client portal makes uploading easy. We handle all the organization, you just send us what you have.
3-Year Lookback Analysis
Within the agreed review scope, our team examines prior returns for potential missed deductions, credits and reporting issues. We explain the supporting records, applicable deadlines and whether corrections are appropriate. A review does not guarantee a refund or tax savings.
Custom Tax Plan
We build a written tax plan around your facts, goals and available records. Recommendations explain relevant tax rules, estimated benefits, assumptions, costs and implementation steps. Actual outcomes depend on eligibility and completed implementation.
Implementation
We define the responsible professional, required records and deadlines for each approved action. Returns, amendments, cost segregation studies and other additional work are separately scoped and priced. Your written agreement identifies what AE completes and what requires coordination with another professional.
Ongoing Advisory
Your agreement defines the advisory support period, meeting schedule and communication channels. Where included, reviews and projections help you evaluate changes before key deadlines. Additional planning or future-year work may require a separate engagement.
What Makes Us Different
Three principles that set AE Tax Advisors apart from every other tax firm.
Proactive, Not Reactive
We build strategy before tax season, not after. Most CPAs look backward. We look forward to create deductions before the year ends.
Coordinated Implementation
Your plan identifies implementation responsibilities and deadlines. Confirm included work and separately priced filings or professional services in your agreement.
Clear Scope & Fees
Compare the advisory fee with the proposed scope, implementation work and assumptions in your written proposal. Tax outcomes depend on your facts and completed implementation.
Your Engagement Timeline
From first contact to ongoing partnership, here is what to expect and when.

Frequently Asked Questions
What triggers an IRS examination?
Common triggers include large deductions relative to reported income, S-Corp officer compensation that appears low, real estate professional status claims, and information return mismatches. Selection is also partly random through the National Research Program.
How long can the IRS go back?
Generally three years from the filing date. That extends to six years where more than 25% of gross income was omitted, and there is no limit for a false or fraudulent return or a failure to file. Employment tax and certain international matters have their own rules.
Should I represent myself in an audit?
It is rarely advisable beyond the simplest correspondence matters. Statements made during an examination cannot be retracted, and the scope of an audit frequently expands based on what the examiner learns. Representation by a CPA, enrolled agent, or attorney limits direct contact and keeps the scope defined.
